Unleash Innovation with ShipIt Days

ShipIt Days, formerly called FedEx Days, is a time when the development team gets to work on implementing something that is not directly on the product roadmap or considered a planned, prioritized feature.  In effect, it allows developers to work on something innovated for a day with the goal of producing something of value that can be "shipped" in an upcoming release.  ShipIt Days time can be used to:
  • Implement new features for the product.
  • Refactor areas which have been long standing frustrations.
  • Create new tools which are helpful to the development team or end users.
The goals of ShipIt Days are to:
  • Foster creativity – Give the team a blank sheet to use their imaginations.
  • Scratch itches – ShipIt Days is the time for developers to address the things that bug them about the product.
  • Think outside the box – ShipIt Days allows the team to work on ideas that might not otherwise be prioritized.
  • Have fun! – Start a tradition that will make your organization a more fun place to work.
ShipIt Days has been successfully implemented by many organizations to foster innovation and increase employee engagement.  For more information on how to get started, check out the following links:
